How to go to Lorient

By road

When travelling with a group of 3 or 4 people it is probably the cheapest way to go down to Lorient. One can easily rent a car at the Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport or at the Nantes Atlantique international airport.

Coming from Roissy, take the A15 highway towards “Marne La Vallée”. Near Bobigny drive on in the direction of Bordeaux and Nantes (be careful, close to Paris you will go through dangerous areas). After 40 km, take the E50 highway in the direction of Palaiseau and Nantes. Then follow the signs “Chartres” and “Rennes”. Just before Rennes (at La Gravelle) you will have to pay a toll of about 30€. Then you enter Brittany where the highways are free of charge. After Rennes, follow the direction of Lorient on the E60. It takes over 6 hours to cover the 525 km between Roissy and Lorient.

Coming from the Nantes Airport, take the A03 highway in the direction of “Périphérique Ouest” and “Vannes”. Drive on the bridge over the Loire River (Pont de Cheviré) and take the A60 in the direction of Vannes and then Lorient. It takes about 2 hours to cover the 146 km between Nantes and Lorient.

By train

You can take the TGV either from the Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport to Lorient (2 links a day) or from the Paris-Montparnasse Station to Lorient (10 links a day). It takes ¾ of a hour to go from the Roissy Airport to the Montparnasse Station by RER (commuter train)

There are about 15 daily links between Nantes and Lorient on the TER (regional train). A 20 minute shuttle will take you from the Nantes Atlantique airport to the Nantes railway station down town.

By plane

One can fly from London or other places in Europe directly to the Nantes Atlantique International airport. From there you can either rent a car or take the TER (regional train).

A 45 minute flight will get you from Paris to the Lorient Airport (4 daily return flights)
